Springs – Marselene Kleinsmith, 16, who was four months pregnant was shot 5 times at close range on Thursday night on the corner of Valhalla Drive and Jakkalsvlei Drive.
Marselene was shot in the head and in her leg. She died at the scene.
Her friend, Bradley Arrie, 19, was wounded in the arm and is in hospital.
According to Arrie, he and Marselene came out of the shop at about 21:00 when an unknown guy attacked them.
Arrie says ” The guy behind us walked and was smoking. He came closer and then I heard him cock the gun. He first shot Marselene from behind. I ran away. When he had finished, the guy ran after me and injured my arm.”
According to Marselene ‘s father, Clifford, 44, he had minutes before spoken to his daughter before she was shot.
He said “I could not believe it when they told me my child had been shot. When I arrived at the scene, she was already dead. The blood was coming out from her nose and ears.”
Marselene’s mother died and she had lived the last year with her aunt in Soetkopstraat.
According to police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut, a murder docket was opened.
