94 Year old lady assaulted during farm attack

On June 29, 2015 at approximately 08:15 members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to Esenembe, KwaZulu-Natal after receiving reports of an armed robbery.

Reaction Officers responded to the residence which is situated in the middle of a sugar cane plantation. Upon arrival Officers found a visibly shaken 94 year old white female who stated that two suspects held up her domestic worker and her private security guard as they were about to enter the property and forced them into the home. One suspect was armed with a revolver while his accomplice was in possession of an Okapi knife. The suspects began assaulting the elderly victim with the butt of the firearm, demanding cash and jewelry before ransacking the entire house in search of valuables.

The victim further stated that when the suspects did not find anything of value they made a call from their cellphone to an unknown person and informed them that there were no valuables in the house before cutting the call. They then stole a duffel bag and keys to the property before fleeing on foot.

The RUSA helicopter lifted off from Verulam and an intense search of the surrounding farms were conducted, however, the suspects could not be located. The victim sustained cuts and bruises from the assault and was treated on scene by paramedics but she declined further medical assistance.

The suspects were described to be in their mid thirties and dressed in blue overalls.
