In the early hours of Sunday morning Emer-G-Med, Netcare911, Blue Security, EThekwini Fire and Rescue Services as well as numerous other emergency personnel, responded to reports of a fire at Life Chatsmed Gardens Hospital in Chatsworth South of Durban.
Reports from the scene are that a fire broke out in one of the wards leading to an evacuation.
No injuries were sustained, however considerable damage was caused by the fire.
An official statement will be issued by the hospital in due course.
