To ensure that runners and walkers have the ultimate experience on Sunday, 14 October 2018 event sponsors and partners will be seen pulling out all the stops at the 2nd annual FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN!

The 2018 FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN route will highlight iconic landmarks, boast lively on-route performances by a host of Durban’s leading performing arts groups while featuring high energy vibe points activated by event sponsors:  FNB, PUMA, East Coast Radio, DHL, Totalsports, Coca-Cola, Spur, Mango, Budget, Thule, Big Box Containers, Rialto, Flying Fish and Toys ‘R Us.

Runners can look out for FNB supporters at three sponsor points on route.

PUMA South Africa has thrown down the gauntlet challenging runners to ‘Beat Bolt’ at the 2nd annual FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN.

“We are looking for excitement and camaraderie, but most importantly we are looking for #FastTimes,” says Brett Bellinger, Marketing Director of PUMA South Africa.  “The #ForeverFaster PUMA ‘Beat Bolt’ Sprint will be stationed in the region of the 7 – 9km mark (in Hunter Street).  Remember to reserve some energy as the ‘Beat Bolt’ Sprint requires speed.  Be prepared to give your all over a 100m sprint.  This section of the route will once again be timed.  The runner (male and female) to clock the fastest time over  the 100m will be rewarded with a PUMA shopping voucher to the value of R10 000.”

The world’s leading international express services provider, DHL Express has joined the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN as the event’s official logistics partner in 2018.

“We had our first taste of the FNB Run Your City Series at the FNB Joburg 10K CITYRUN at the end of September and we were in our element,” says Megan Roper, Head of Marketing, DHL Express Sub-Saharan Africa.  “The event was vibrant and fast-paced and we are proud to have contributed towards its success and look forward to taking things one step further at the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN.  As official logistics partner, we know that great is in the detail and we’re committed to using our expertise to bring great value to the event. Celebrating its 2nd anniversary in 2018, the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN grants entrants the unique opportunity to explore their city on foot.  In addition to lively on-route entertainment and rubbing shoulders with some of the world’s best middle distance runners, the 2018 FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN route will also highlight a number of Durban’s iconic landmarks.

CHARITY SUPPORTWhen entering online runners (and walkers) can support one of five Durban based charities:  1. The Reach For A Dream Foundation, 2. TREE, 3. Durban & Coast SPCA, 4. LIV Village and/or 5. iThemba Lethu.

PRIZE PURSEThe FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN will boast a whopping Prize Purse of R250000 in 2018.  Prize Money will be awarded to the top ten men’s and women’s finishers in the open category with the overall winners each taking home R30 000.  Prize money has also been allocated to the top three finishers in the junior, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+ age group categories.

EXCITING NEWSWilson Kipketer, former 800m world record holder, will participate in the 2018 FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN on Sunday, 14 October 2018.  Kipketer who is employed by race sponsor, PUMA and won gold at three successive World Championships, has been brought to SA to inspire runners to bring their best to the event.

You can join Wilson Kipketer for a 5km warm up run on Friday, 12 October  starting at 5pm from Race Pack Collection or meet him at a signing session at Race Pack Collection on Saturday, 13 October. After running the race on Sunday he will also be handing over the PUMA Beat Bolt cheque at prize giving.
