Western Cape receives 100 boxes of licensing forms from national government

Today the Western Cape Government (WCG) received 100 boxes of ‘face value’ forms – for motor vehicle and drivers’ licensing – from the National Government Printing Works. These documents enable the WCG and local authorities to provide licensing services that are critical to our citizens and our economy.

This delivery follows my open letter last week to the national Ministers of Transport and Home Affairs, detailing the critical shortage and significant backlog in fulfilling our orders of these forms. The lack of supply from the national government means that we have, in turn, been unable to adequately supply the forms to municipalities and registering authorities.

While this shipment might have averted a complete service delivery standstill in the short term, we remain concerned that there are still hundreds of boxes of forms that have not been delivered.

We trust that the Government Printing Works will make good on their commitment to continue…
