Two suspects arrested in possession of a stolen vehicle and bribery in Dlamini

Two male suspects between the ages of 39 and 22 years were arrested in possession of a stolen motor vehicle and for bribery by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit in Dlamini, Soweto.

On Thursday afternoon, 01 September 2022 whilst conducting crime prevention patrols at Chris Hani Road in Dlamini officers stopped a White Nissan NP200 for a routine check.

The vehicle was searched and inspected and it was discovered that the VIN number was tempered with. Upon further inspection officers found another VIN number on the vehicle that did not match the VIN in the engine compartment.

The officers conducted a vehicle inquiry using the ENatis system and found that the vehicle was stolen and sought as per the Florida SAPS case.

The suspects were informed that the vehicle was reported stolen, and they offered the officers an R1000 bribe.

The suspects were placed under arrest and detained at Moroka SAPS. They will appear in court in due course.
