VRMED responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the R64 in front of Bains Game Lodge in Bloemfontein.
On arrival, crews found both vehicles in the field with the driver of the bakkie lying next to the vehicle with serious injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle had sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital with private transport.
The bakkie driver was transported to Pelonomi hospital trauma unit with advanced care paramedics.
The scene was handed over to Bainsvlei SAPS for further investigation.
