Two killed, one airlifted from collision in Westonaria

Two people were killed and another two sustained severe injuries in a collision along Libanon Road in Westonaria, west of Johannesburg this afternoon.

At approximately 3.30pm, paramedics from ER24 and local emergency services arrived on the scene where they found two people with fatal injuries trapped inside a light motor vehicle. Sadly, there was nothing that paramedics could do for them and they were declared dead. Three people, of which two were in a serious condition, were also found in the vehicle. They all sustained various injuries.

The ER24 Oneplan Medical Helicopter was called to the scene to airlift one of the patients to the hospital. Two patients were rapidly transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance for further care.

It is understood that the light motor vehicle and a bus collided with each other on Libanon Road. The exact circumstances surrounding the collision is not yet known. Local authorities attended the scene and will conduct an investigation.
