Transport Deputy Minister engages Msunduzi Metro Community and Taxi Industry

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr Lisa Mangcu in collaboration with the Road Accident Fund (RAF) and the Road Traffic Infringement Agency (RTIA) will be visiting the Pietermaritzburg area to address a number of concerns raised by the transport stakeholders.

The concerns raised by the local community include the Taxi Relief-Fund, taxi drivers working long hours and the question of observance of the rules of the road among others.

The taxi industry forms and plays a major part of the citizens' main method and means of transportation.

Deputy Minister Mangcu, as well as the leadership of the Municipality and supporting entities and other transport stakeholders will embark on a taxi rank clean-up, Stakeholder and community engagement program.

The program will focus on three main objectives:

encouraging volunteerism to tidy the Taxi Rank and public transport infrastructure facilities
