Toddler critical and mother seriously injured after being ejected in vehicle roll-over

A 4-year-old male toddler and his 33-year-old mother have suffered critical and serious injuries respectively after both were ejected through the back windscreen of a Merc station-wagon in a single-vehicle roll-over. The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and rolled from the N1 South, 10km outside of Polokwane earlier today. The adult male driver was uninjured in the incident.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene along with Government Rescue at 14:17. The toddler and mother were found 500 meters from the vehicle. Both were treated with Advanced Life Support interventions by both ER24's ALS medic and the Government ECP on the scene before being transported to hospital for further care.

It is believed that the mom and her boy had caught a lift with the driver of the vehicle.
