Just after 16h00 on Tuesday Emer-G-Med paramedics, together with Netcare911 responded to the scene of a serious head-on collision on Umhlanga Rocks Drive in the vicinity of the Fernlea Road intersection.
On arrival on the scene, a light delivery vehicle and a Fiat Uno were found to have collided head-on at high impact.
The driver of the Fiat as well as a passenger from the LDV suffered critical injuries and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize them before they were transported rapidly by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
At least four other men suffered moderate injuries and were treated and stabilized on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
Traffic in the area was severely affected as the roadway was closed to allow emergency personnel to clear the scene.
