Police recover unlicensed firearms

In an effort to fight the proliferation of firearms, the members of the Tshwane District seized three firearms and arrested four suspects on different incidents.

In the first incident, the members followed up on information about security officers who allegedly stole money at a crime scene.

The information was operationalised and a search was conducted at the suspects’ houses, whereby police discovered dye stained money, firearm and ammunition.

The two suspects aged 28 and 30 years were arrested and will be appearing before a Magistrates' Court soon on charges of possession of stolen property and unlawful discharge of firearm.

On another incident, an intelligence-driven operation was conducted at Akasia and Mabopane about unlicensed firearms.

The operation led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Akasia and the second suspect aged 50 years was arrested in Mabopane also with an unlicensed firearm.
