One person has been killed and fifteen others injured in a collision on the N14 and R563 in Oak Tree, Krugersdorp

One person has been killed and fifteen others injured this morning following a collision at the N14 and R563 in Oak Tree, Krugersdorp.

ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene to find a truck near the intersection while the wrecked taxi was found on the side of the road. It is believed that the occupants had already been extricated from the taxi and were now found lying around the vehicle.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that three had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition. The remaining twelve patients had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The patients were treated for their injuries, and the three critically injured provided with advanced life support interventions. Unfortunately, after a short time, one of the critically injured patients succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Once the patients had been treated, the two critically injured patients were airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Helicopter, and another private helicopter, to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The remaining patients were transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
