One person has been killed and more than 20 others injured following a serious five vehicle collision along the M4 near La Mercy, just after Umdloti, a short while ago, 7 October 2025.
Multiple emergency services, including KZNVIP, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, KZNVIP Paramedics found multiple patients with minor to severe injuries. Despite efforts by emergency personnel, one person was sadly declared deceased on scene.
A rapid triage process was initiated and all injured patients were stabilised before being transported to nearby medical facilities for further treatment.
The exact circumstances leading up to the collision cannot be confirmed at this stage.
Traffic on the M4 was heavily affected as the roadway remained partially obstructed while emergency operations were underway.
