Man injured in an apparent assault in Woodmead

A man, believed to be in his 30s, sustained moderate injuries following an apparent assault at Buccleuch Interchange in Woodmead early this morning.

ER24 paramedics who were on their way back from another incident, drove into the apparent assault shortly before 06H00. As they drove past the scene they saw what looked like a man being assaulted. They called the SAPS and then went back to the scene when a taxi sped off. A man ran up to the ambulance and jumped in. Upon further assessment, paramedics found that the man had a stab wound to his back and various lacerations.

It is understood that the man was catching a lift home in the taxi when the taxi just continued driving. When the taxi came to a stop, they assaulted the man.

ER24 transported the man to the hospital for further medical care. 

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics.
