Man cut from wreckage after a road crash on the N14

A fifty-year-old man has been left with serious injuries following a collision on the N14 earlier today.

Emer-G-Med paramedics arrived on the scene in the vicinity of Rooihuiskraal, to find two light motor vehicles had collided at high impact, before both vehicles careened off the roadway.

On further investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles was found entrapped in the wreckage and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilize him, whilst rescue technicians cut him free using specialized hydraulic equipment.

Once free he was transported rapidly by ambulance under the care of an Emergency Care Practitioner, to a nearby hospital for further definitive care.

A second man suffered moderate injuries and was treated and stabilized on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care by a private ambulance service.

The cause of the collision is unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
