At approximately 19h30 Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a shooting incident on Jan Smuts Highway in the Sherwood area of Durban.
Reports from the scene are that a male approximately thirty years of age was found to have sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.
Further information ascertained alleges that the deceased and his accomplices attempted to hijack a man at gunpoint when the victim fired a shot in defence of his life, killing the man. His accomplices fled in an unknown direction.
The South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly.
