Western Cape- members of Flying Squad were patrolling the N1 freeway when they noticed a Renault vehicle that was hijacked earlier in Parow.
The members called for backup and a high-speed chase ensued. The vehicle was chased from Bellville and ended up in Freedom Farm informal settlement near Delft. The suspects started shooting at the members who returned fire. The suspects disembarked the vehicle and ran in between the shacks when one of them disposed of his firearm. The four suspects managed to evade arrest and are being sought. A firearm with eight rounds and one cartridge stuck in the firearm was retrieved. During this incident, no injuries or damages were reported. The hijacked vehicle was confiscated for further investigation.
In an unrelated matter, members attached to Operation Restore, deployed in an integrated operation in Mfuleni, arrested three suspects aged between 18 and 26, for possession of a presumed hijacked motor vehicle….
