Female motorist left fighting for her life following Durban North collision

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the M4 Ruth First Highway north bound near the Waterkant Road bridge.

Arriving first on scene Emer-G-Med Paramedics were met with mayhem as the remains of an SUV lay on its roof occupying the right-hand lane, whilst a Renault Clio lay in ruins on the left shoulder of the roadway.

An immediate call was made for additional resources by the Emer-G-Med Emergency Operations Centre and paramedics triaged the incident.

A female aged in her thirties was found in critical condition severely entrapped in the Renault, whilst a man was found to have suffered moderate injuries in the SUV.

With the assistance of the Metro Police, the roadway was closed to traffic to allow emergency services space to work.

The female was treated and stabilized on the scene using numerous advanced life support intervention methods with the assistance of Netcare911 before she was cut free by Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services.
