Around 20:30 ECSA received reports of a serious MVC on Randfontein Road involving a police vehicle and a taxi.
Upon arrival it was established that there were at least 3 vehicles involved with fatalities on the scene as well as one patient who was still entrapped in the vehicle.
ECSA assisted City of Johannesburg Fire to extricate the patient from the vehicle. Once extricated the patient was treated in an ambulance and the call was made to airlift the patient to hospital.
ROCKET HEMS was activated to the location. ECSA crews assisted in moving the patient from the ambulance to the helicopter, where the patient was then safely loaded and flight crews could take off.
Various other patients were transported to hospital with mild to moderate injuries.
