At approximately 2am Saturday morning, 3rd February 2018. Netcare 911 responded to a multiple vehicle collision involving a bus, car and truck on the N3 just after the Hilton off-ramp in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
Reports from the scene indicate that the bus was in the process of being towed when it was rear-ended by a truck causing the bus to collide with the tow truck in front. An approaching car lost control and crashed on the side of the road in an attempt to avoid the accident. On arrival, Netcare 911 paramedics and other services attended to the truck and car drivers as well as four occupants traveling in the car. They all sustained minor injuries and needed no hospital care.
The highway was closed due to oil spillage, however, cars could take the off-ramp and get back on the n3.
