Vehicle crashes down an embankment in Grangetown

A 77-year-old man escaped injury after his vehicle crashed into a tree at the base of an embankment in Grangetown – KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene.

On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered the elderly male being assisted by the public. He explained that he was traveling on High Street to Verulam Secondary School. His sandal somehow jammed the accelerator pedal which resulted in the lose of control.

According to witnesses, the silver Renault Sandero sped through the stop street before it left the road and became airborne.

It traveled approximately 50 meters down an embankment before it crashed into a tree.

The vehicle was extensively damaged.
