Welkom Appliance Repairs company overview:
Welkom Appliance Repairs is a locally owned and operated appliance repair service based at 25 Celuta Place, Riebeeckstad, Welkom. With more than four decades of hands-on repair experience behind the business, we’ve built our reputation one fixed appliance at a time — serving families, landlords, guesthouses, and small businesses across the Free State goldfields.
We’re not a national call centre routing your job to whoever happens to be available. We’re the same small, dedicated team Welkom has trusted for over 40 years. When you phone us, a real local person answers. When a technician walks through your door, it’s someone who knows this town, its homes, and very likely your neighbours’ appliances too.
Our founding principle is simple: deliver fast, honest, and affordable repairs while treating every client with genuine care. Quality service, for us, goes beyond swapping a part — it’s about building long-term trust and giving households real peace of mind.
What We Repair
Decades on the tools means our technicians have encountered virtually every fault a domestic or light-commercial appliance can throw at them.
Laundry
– Washing Machines – Top-loaders and front-loaders, mechanical or electronic. Drainage faults, drum bearing wear, door lock and seal failures, unbalanced-load errors, and modern control-board fault codes.
– Tumble Dryers – Vented and condenser models. Heating element failures, thermostat issues, worn belts, motor faults, and overheating/tripping problems.
Cooking
– Ovens & Stoves – Electric and gas, built-in and freestanding. Heating element replacements, thermostat calibration, gas ignition faults, and unresponsive control panels.
– Dishwashers – Spray-arm blockages, pump and drainage faults, door seal failures, fill issues, and electronic control problems.
Cooling
– Fridges & Freezers** – Compressor, thermostat, gas-charge, door-seal, and control-board diagnostics on domestic and larger commercial units. Refrigeration breakdowns spoil food quickly, so we prioritise these callouts.
Brands We Service
Over 42 years we’ve repaired virtually every major brand sold in South Africa. The six we handle most frequently are:
– Defy – SA’s homegrown brand; mechanical and electronic ranges alike
– LG – Direct-drive washers, inverter fridges, sensor and fault-code diagnostics
– Samsung – Digital control systems, door-lock mechanisms, compressor and inverter faults
– Whirlpool – Solid mechanical builds; drainage, seal, and thermostat repairs
– SpeedQueen – Heavy-duty drive systems, timers, and drainage components for high-use households and small laundries
– KIC – Refrigeration systems, door seals, and control components common in Welkom homes
When to Call
Spotting a fault early usually means a simpler, more affordable fix. Reach out if you notice any of the following warning signs:
– Fridge / Freezer: Food not staying cold, unusual buzzing or clicking, excessive ice build-up, or water pooling underneath the unit.
– Washing Machine: The machine won’t drain or spin, it is leaking, there is unusual banging during the spin cycle, or the door won’t lock.
– Tumble Dryer: Clothes come out damp or still hot to the touch, you notice a burning smell, or the drum is not tumbling at all.
– Dishwasher: Dishes are still dirty or gritty after a cycle, there is standing water at the end of a wash, or the door isn’t sealing properly.
– Oven / Stove: You experience uneven cooking, a heating element that won’t glow, a gas burner that won’t ignite, or a control panel that isn’t responding.
– Any Appliance: A fault code is flashing on the display. (Check our fault code guide or call us directly).
