South Africa Today – Business Directory: Simple Submission Guidelines

Our mission is to be a trusted business directory in South Africa and Africa. We prioritize quality over quantity. By submitting a listing, you agree to these rules. Non-compliance will result in rejection or removal.
1. How to Start
- Click “Sign in” to create your profile. You must have a profile to submit a listing.
2. Who Can Be Listed?
- Must be a legitimate, currently operational business in South Africa or a recognized African nation.
- Must have a functioning website or an active Facebook page that clearly explains your products/services.
- Note: We may check your physical address via a “Google walk.”
3. Listing Requirements (The “Must-Dos”)
- Language: English only.
- Business Name: Your exact legal or “Trading As” name. No slogans, taglines, or keyword stuffing.
- Description: 300–600+ words. Must be 100% original, human-written, and grammatically correct. Do not copy-paste from your website or social media.
- Categories: Choose from our predefined list. (You can request a new category if needed).
- Images: Max ~100KB. Must be original photos of your premises, team, or products. No stock photos, watermarks, heavy filters, or embedded contact info.
- Contact Info: A direct, working phone number and email (business domain emails like `@yourbusiness.co.za` are strongly preferred over Gmail).
- Address: A physical, staffed location is required. (Exception: If you are strictly an online business, you must select the “Online Business” category). Only one listing per physical location/entity, unless distinct businesses like a hotel and restaurant share an address. To maximize your listings you can list all branches as a new listing.
4. Strictly Prohibited (Zero Tolerance)
Submissions containing any of the following will be automatically rejected:
- Keyword stuffing or duplicate listings (only one listing per physical location/entity, unless distinct businesses like a hotel and restaurant share an address).
- Any spam, illegal activities or products.
5. Review Process & Maintenance
- Manual Review: Takes 3 to 5 business days. Approval is not guaranteed, but our team may help edit/expand your content to ensure its success.
- Featured Listings: Standard listings are 100% free. We will expand with optional paid featured listings in the future.
- Removal: We regularly audit the directory. Listings may be removed for website downtime, social inactivity, validated user spam reports, or policy violations.
✅ Pre-Submission Checklist
Before clicking “Submit,” please confirm:
– My business is legal and operational.
– My business name is my official legal/trading name.
– My description is in English, 300+ words, 100% original, and free of keyword stuffing.
– My images are original photos of my business (no stock photos).
– My phone, email, and physical address are accurate (or I have selected “Online Business”).
– I understand my listing will be manually reviewed, is not guaranteed approval, and may be edited by our staff to improve its quality.
Agreement:
By checking the box and clicking “Submit Listing,” you certify that you are an authorized representative of the business, the information is accurate, and you agree to abide by these Guidelines & Policies.
