In this video by ‘Willem Petzer’ we see that the Koeberg nuclear power station in Melkbos, 30km out of Cape Town, is leaking nuclear waste! Petzer reports that this has in fact been happening since 2014. Dr Corne Mulder of the FF Plus revealed details of the leak in Parliament and was also successful in getting the energy minister, Jeff Radebe, to admit that there was a problem at Eskom’s power plant.

The energy minister did not say what the problem was nor did he indicate who may be responsible. He did however say that it was due to dysfunctional equipment at the ventilating system and issues with the cooling at the power plant.

Maroela Media reported that there had been three nuclear waste leaks at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in the Western Cape.

The Conversation reported in 2018: “Waste from Koeberg. The arrangement is that low and intermediate-level nuclear waste is transported to a site called Vaalputs in sparsely populated Namakwaland, about 500 km north of Cape Town. High-level waste is kept on site in Koeberg in what are known as fuel pools. South Africa doesn’t have storage facilities for its high-level waste. Like the rest of the world, construction of nuclear plants was initiated without a specific waste disposal plan, with the understanding that each country would manage and pay for it themselves.”
