In this video by ‘Newzroom Afrika’ we see a report on how, a row between Police Minister Bheki Cele and the Western Cape provincial government, is brewing over its Garden Route Beaches. Western Cape Community Safety MEC Albert Fritz has accused Cele of being obsessed with beaches in the province and is on a power trip. Cele has called in the army to patrol the beaches during the lockdown.
Albert Fritz is interviewed and he explains that while the police minister is obsessed with the beaches crime is getting out of hand. There are major serious crime issues that the police are unable to cope with or attend to.
