Celebrities make a lot of money, and they also spend a lot of it. While most of these expenditures are warranted, there are times when they blow away money on stuff that would leave your head spinning. There are many stories of our on-screen heroes flashing and spending a lot of cash, and if you haven’t caught wind of these (where have you been?), let’s explore some.

Mike Tyson’s fixation with extravagance

In his prime, Mike Tyson was the best pound for pound boxer in the world. To date, he is still considered one of the best fighters to ever walk into the ring. Over the course of his career, the boxer made over $300 million in total. However, he didn’t spend it so wisely, which is why he lives from one paycheck to the next. Tyson is known to have kept two Bengal tigers in his mansion, and they cost him a ton of money. He also, over the course of 3 years, spent a scary $200,000 on watches and cell phones. The one absolutely shocking expenditure he made that grabbed attention around the world was a $2 million bathtub bought for his wife at the time, Robin Givens.

Victoria Beckham’s splash in Milan

When we talk about celebrity royalty, the Beckhams are right up there with the best. Victoria is a highly accomplished singer and model. Her husband, David Beckham, is one of the best footballers to ever put on an England jersey and has gone on to become one of the finest fashion icons of our time. The pair has accumulated hundreds of millions of pounds between them. It, therefore, comes as no surprise that they can spend their money with the best of them – which of course, they did. In January of 2010, the former Spice Girl would splash $1.6 million on designer items on the streets of Milan. Victoria grabbed sunglasses, a sofa, and of course, a Rolex watch for her bae, and the shopping spree cost just around the aforementioned figure. Talk about rolling in it!

George Clooney and his games of chance

This man needs no introduction and most of you are aware of his starring role in the heist film Ocean’s 11. The Las Vegas connection didn’t start there though, as Clooney himself has been known to spend time (and naturally, large amounts of money) long before his turn as the professional thief. The high roller once even invested in an actual casino (and resort) on the Strip, however, the project eventually fell through. Clooney, however, ended up on top, pocketing an estimated $200 million from a buyout, of which a sizeable chunk he donated to the African Debt Relief project. Not all of us can be as lucky as Clooney, but a great place to start would be Online Gambling SA website. There you can get tips, information about wagers and play various games from the comfort of your own home.

Kimye and the high life

Kim Kardashian has been a mainstay on our TV screens for a long time now. Her star was shining brightly when she was single, and things got even better when she married to rap star Kanye West. The couple have been living the high life but at times it gets higher than any one of us would have expected. Kim is known to have flown from LA to Paris to grab a cheesecake. After all, who wants Los Angeles cuisine when you have the dough to get it all from Paris? Kanye himself has also been the culprit on several occasions, famously splashing €2,800 on a rare five-foot long Ayre fish, which was flown all the way from South Wales to New York for the enjoyment of West and his clan. Not only that, but he also managed to have the chef fly to NY with the dish too!

Brad Pitt and the love of art

Pitt has been on our screens for decades now, and his marriage to Angelina Jolie served to raise his pedigree even further. His boyish good looks and charm have made him one of the most beloved actors of our time, and he has never been one to shy away from the limelight, even when that meant spending more than a couple hundred thousand bucks. In 2009, Pitt made his way to an art fair in Basel, Switzerland, ostensibly looking for a little something to decorate his walls back home. After walking around looking at exhibitions, the star decided to grab a painting by Neo Rauch, and for this one, he paid just a little less than $1 million.

These are just some examples of the kind of lifestyle the average South African could only dream of. Whether it’s for PR purposes or not, celebrities are people after all, and we’re all allowed to “live a little”, from time to time. And in those special cases, some are allowed to “live a little more”.
