A multi-agency collaboration saw dedicated teams of volunteers and professionals from Wilderness Search And Rescue WSAR Western Cape and SANParks – Table Mountain

National Park working together to rescue an injured hiker from Devil's Peak on Wednesday afternoon.

The 42-year-old hiker was accompanying her daughter’s soccer team on their hike, when she slipped and injured herself.

Their soccer coach immediately called the emergency contact number – 021 937 0300.

Rescuers and rangers mustered at the base of Platteklip Gorge, before hiking up to the injured hiker.

She was assessed and treated by a Western Cape Department of Health & Wellness EMS rescue paramedic, before being helped into a stretcher.

The team used the Cascade Rescue Company Terra-Tamer stretcher wheel to help them move her swiftly and safely down the trail to a waiting ambulance.

The incident was concluded shortly before 15h30.
