Two killed, six injured in a collision on the N1 highway in Rawsonville, Western Cape

Last night a woman and a 13-month-old girl were killed and six others injured following a collision on the N1 highway in Rawsonville, Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 20h30 to find the Metro Rescue EMS already in attendance. A woman and a 13-month-old girl were seen lying on the road while six other patients were on the side of the road.

It is understood that the light motor vehicle, carrying five occupants, had collided with three pedestrians.

On assessment, medics found that the female pedestrian and the young child had already succumbed to their injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead by the Metro EMS.

The light motor vehicle driver was in serious condition, while the four other occupants and the other pedestrian had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The patients were treated and later transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
