Two illegal immigrants arrested for smuggling dagga valued at about R800 000

The Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol arrested two illegal immigrants, aged 37 and 33, in Viljoensdrift for dagga trafficking. On Wednesday, 30 August 2023 at about 23:35, members were patrolling the R82, when they noticed a suspicious vehicle with a Lesotho registration.

They pulled over the vehicle and in the vehicle were two male occupants. They proceeded to search the vehicle and 11 bags containing dagga were discovered. It is further alleged that suspects tried to bribe members to evade arrest. The dagga, weighing 300 kg and valued at about R800 000, was confiscated.

Suspects will appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate Court tomorrow, 1 September 2023, on charges of dagga trafficking, bribery, and being illegal immigrants.

The Acting District Commissioner of the Fezile Dabi, Brigadier Mapulane Mbeloane, applauded the members for being vigilant and proactive in making sure that the suspects end up behind bars….
