Just after 21h00 on Saturday Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on the R104 in the Silverton area.
On arrival on scene, a light motor vehicle was found to have overturned, leaving the roadway and crashed into a scrapyard.
An adult male was ejected during the incident and an adult female was found entrapped in the wreckage.
Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize both patients before a decision was made to airlift the female through to a specialist facility for the definitive care that she required.
The male was transported rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.
