Transport Regulation Management of the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security, and Liaison today led a road safety awareness campaign on the R40 Hazyview-Graskop turn-off.
The purpose of the campaign was to promote and educate motorists about road safety. Also, the campaign was conducted to support the Road Safety Officers and traffic officials who are always on the road to ensure the safety of road users.
During the awareness campaign, over 200 vehicles were stopped and occupants were educated about road safety.
Although it was an awareness campaign, motorists who did not comply with the rules of the road and whose vehicles had defects were not spared.
Sixteen summonses were issued for different violations.
These awareness campaigns are held quarterly and rotate in all the regions of the province.
