Transport Ministery relaunching of the South African Chapter of the Association for Women in the Maritime Sector

Pretoria: The Ministry of Transport would like to invite the media to the relaunching of the South African Chapter of the Association for Women in the Maritime Sector in the Eastern and Southern Africa (WOMESA).

The WOMESA programme will be key in driving the transformation needed in advocating for the empowerment of women in an industry dominated by males.

Transport Minister, Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga will take part in the two-day programme, giving a keynote address at the opening ceremony. Joining the Minister among other dignitaries during the relaunching, will be the Executive Mayor of the City of Gqeberha, Mr Retief Odendaal, President of WOMESA Regional Structure, Ms Anene Wodajo and Chairperson of Women's International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) South Africa, Ms Emsha Gengan as well as maritime industry captains across the board.
