The TMPD impounded 31 vehicles and Overloading Control Unit weighed 33 vehicles

On 25 May 2026, the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD), together with the National Traffic Police (NTP), conducted a coordinated operation at the R80 Highway and Bremer Street focusing on scholar transport and the National Land Transport Act (NLTA).

During the operation, a total of thirty-one (31) vehicles were impounded. Nine scholar transport vehicles including two midi buses, six mini buses, and one Avanza were impounded by the team. A further 18 mini buses and four e-hailing vehicles were impounded for operating contrary to the conditions of the Act.

Additionally, the Overloading Control Unit (OCTU) weighbridges in Akasia and Centurion tested and weighed thirty-three (33) vehicles, finding six overloaded at the Akasia weighbridge and four at the Centurion weighbridge. A total of six warnings were also issued.
