The search for a missing person at Hazelmere Dam resumed today (Sunday) following a reported drowning incident.
Initial search efforts commenced on Friday afternoon; however, poor visibility prevented water-based search operations from being conducted safely. The official search operation continued on Saturday and resumed again today with no success in locating the missing person at this stage.
The operation involves members from Durban Metro Police Service Search and Rescue, South African Police Service Search and Rescue, SAPS K9 Unit from Pietermaritzburg, and SAPS Diving Services, who continue to work tirelessly in challenging conditions.
Our thoughts remain with the family and loved ones of the missing person during this difficult time. We thank all emergency personnel for their dedication and commitment to the search efforts….
