Taxi crashes into tree leaving five injured off Old Darling Mamre Road in Atlantis

Five people were left injured this afternoon when a taxi crashed into a tree off Old Darling Mamre Road in Atlantis in the Western Cape.
ER24 paramedics, along with Metro and Fire Services, arrived on the scene to find a taxi against a tree on the side of the road. Several people were found walking around on the scene while one woman was found lying trapped inside the front of the taxi.
Metro and Fire services had to use specialised equipment to free the woman from the vehicle.
Once freed, paramedics found that four patients had sustained minor injuries while the entrapped patient had sustained serious injuries. 
Paramedics treated the patients and provided the seriously injured woman with pain-relief medication before they were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
