Taxi and bakkie collide leaving eleven injured in Vanderbijlpark

Eleven people were left injured this morning when a taxi collided with a bakkie on the R553 in Vanderbijlpark.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find both vehicles in the middle of the road. The passengers from the taxi had climbed out of the vehicle and were found walking around on the scene.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a woman, believed to be in her 40s, lying trapped inside the front of the taxi.
Rescue services had to use specialized equipment to free the woman from the vehicle.
Once freed, paramedics assessed the patients and found that ten people had sustained minor to moderate injuries while the entrapped woman was found in a serious condition.
The patients were treated for their injuries, and the seriously injured woman provided with pain-relief medication, before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
