Suspects due in court on a variety of charges following integrated operations in the Western Cape

Integrated SAPS operations conducted throughout the weekend proved successful with scores of suspects making their way to court on Monday for serious and violent crimes.

Last night members of the Provincial Extortion Task Team were quick to react to a fatal shooting incident in Batavia Road Belhar, and arrested two suspects and confiscated three unlicensed firearms. The team was alerted by the crew of the police chopper that the suspects fled the scene of crime where a 24-year-old man was fatally wounded and another one aged 29 wound. Within minutes, the team was deployed in the area and arrested the two suspects aged 22 and 25, and seized three pistols and ammunition. The murder and attempted murder are suspected to be gang related as the victims and the suspects are linked to rival gangs in the area. The suspects are facing charges of murder, attempted murder and the possession of unlicensed firearms.
