Five males between the ages of 20 and 34 were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and the possession and dealing of dagga in Ivory Park.
On Monday, 08 May 2023, the operational team consisting of the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit, Ekurhuleni Metro Police (EMPD) STT, South African Police Service (SAPS) Flying Squad, Gauteng Highway Patrol and Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) received information about suspects that were dealing in dagga at Ivory Park, and the information further alluded that the dagga was being sold to school children.
The officers followed up on the information, and one male suspect was observed selling dagga to two school boys in full school uniform. The officers immediately apprehended the suspect.
The suspect was interrogated and he led the officers to a room in the premises where he resides. Four other male suspects were found in the room packaging the dagga.
