Suspects arrested for possession of a hijacked Toyota Hilux bakkie, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Two male suspects between the ages of 26 and 32 were arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) K9 Unit in Grasmere for possession of a hijacked Toyota Hilux bakkie, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

On Tuesday 24 May 2022 officers received information from Tracker of a Toyota Hilux that was hijacked in Evaton, Emfuleni.

On arrival at the given location at Tjotjombeni Informal Settlement in Grasmere, two male suspects were found in possession of the hijacked vehicle. When searched, an unlicensed 38 special revolver firearm and five live ammunition were found in their possession.

The duo were immediately placed under arrest and detained at Ennerdale SAPS. They are due to appear in court soon.

The firearm and ammunition were booked in at Ennerdale SAPS and the vehicle was booked in at the SAPS Lenasia pound for verification.
