Suspect linked to vehicles hijacking and theft syndicate arrested in Hazelmere

A 39-year-old believed to be linked to a vehicle hijacking and theft syndicate was arrested and a hijacked vehicle was recovered on his property in Hazelmere – KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received GPS coordinates for a hijacked Ford Ranger bakkie from Tracker at approximately 07:13. Reaction Officers mobilised to the location and discovered the bakkie parked in a yard. A man was seen walking away from the vehicle and entering a residence a few meters away. Officers surrounded the property and apprehended the individual. The bakkie was hijacked from KwaDukuza – KZN at approximately 22:30 last night. The bakkie was in the process of being stripped at the time of the recovery.

Fifty log books, vehicle license disks, and copies of certified identity documents were recovered inside his house. Some of the log books were registered to new models of luxury vehicles. Receipts from scrap yards for engines and other vehicle spares were also located. The suspect became…
