Sixteen children injured following taxi collision

Sixteen children were left injured this morning following a collision between a light motor vehicle and a taxi on Main Road in Melville, Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the taxi on the side of the road while the light motor vehicle was found in the left-hand lane. The children that had been travelling in the taxi were found seated on the pavement.
Paramedics assessed the children, believed to be aged between 7 and 13, and found that they had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to nearby provincial hospitals for further treatment.
The local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.
