Six-month-old among eighteen injured as taxi overturns on Chris Hani Road

A six-month-old little girl has been left injured, whilst seventeen other commuters have sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, after the vehicle they were travelling in, overturned on Chris Hani Road earlier today.

Emergency services arrived on the scene of the intersection of Acutt Avenue and Chris Hani Road, shortly after 1 PM, to find the twisted frame of a Toyota Condor occupying the roadway, while the injured commuters clambered to safety.

Among the injured, a mom held onto her crying child rushing to the arriving paramedics. The infant suffered a suspected lower limb fracture as well as a suspected concussion. She was treated and stabilized on scene by Crisis Medical paramedics, before being taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Emergency services worked fervently to triage, treat and stabilize the injured on scene before they were taken by various ambulances to nearby receiving medical facilities for further care.

At this stage, the exact cause of the collision and the events preceding it, are unknown and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.
