At approximately 21h30 on Friday evening, KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to a critical scene following reports of a severe collision on the N2 highway in the Canefields area.
?First responders arrived to find a scene of massive destruction. Two heavy motor vehicles had collided head-on with immense force, causing one of the trucks to overturn and slide across the tarmac, completely obstructing the flow of traffic. Debris from both wreckage sites was strewn across both lanes, demanding a complex and coordinated extrication and management effort from emergency personnel.
?Paramedics immediately began triage and discovered that one of the drivers had sustained serious injuries. The patient was rapidly stabilized on the scene by advanced life support paramedics, who treated multiple fractures and managed suspected spinal trauma. Once stabilized and immobilized, the patient was transported under close medical supervision to a nearby hospital for definitive, specialized care.
