Several Injured After Taxi Overturns in Verulam, KZN

Several people after the taxi they were traveling in overturned on Inanda Road in Verulam a short while ago.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were called out to the scene by passing motorists and pedestrians requesting assistance for the injured. Upon arrival medics stabilised the passengers which included a 5-year-old boy and a baby. The injured were transported to Osindisweni Hospital for further medical attention.

According to the driver of the taxi he was proceeding to the Verulam CBD when the side shaft on the Toyota Hiace gave way. One of the back wheels with the side shaft detached from the vehicle. When the driver applied the brake the taxi suddenly veered to the left and overturned. Brake pads belonging to the taxi was found several metres away from the scene of the accident (picture 4).

A passing VW Golf was damaged after it knocked into the tyre that was lying in the centre of the road. The occupants of the VW Golf were not injured.
