Police question injured man after Western Cape Constable is killed

Police are questioning an injured man from Lwandle while Lingelethu West police are still reeling from shock following the discovery of the body of their colleague in Lwandle on Sunday morning.

The 33-year-old police constable who had worked until the early hours of Sunday morning had allegedly suffered stab and gunshot wounds. His official firearm was taken and the state vehicle he was driving found some metres from the body. The circumstances surrounding the horrific discovery are under investigation and robbery as a motive for the murder cannot be ruled out at this stage of the investigation. Meanwhile the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations(DPCI) detectives have taken over the murder docket for further investigations with several leads currently being pursued.

Through the SAPS employee, health and wellness officials, contact is being made with the family of the deceased SAPS member. His identity will be released once his next of kin has been informed….
