Police intercepts armed robbery suspects in Kimberley

The Kimberley Flying Squad successfully intercepted the vehicle of three alleged armed robbers as they entered Kimberley on the Boshof Road today at approximately 10:15.

It is reported that five adult males attempted to rob a bottle store in Boshof earlier this morning and threatened an employee with a firearm.

The owner of the bottle store allegedly managed to escape and this caused the suspects to flee scene.

Boshof police alerted Kimberley and Flying Squad tactically intercepted the white Mercedes Benz near Cassandra on the Boshof Road.

The vehicle was searched and police found 9mm rounds of ammunition, balaclavas, grinders and other equipment believed to be used in robberies.

The three male occupants were arrested for illegal possession of ammunition.

Police followed up on leads and another two male suspects were arrested at a house in Boshof hours later by Kimberley Flying Squad, Kimberley SAPS Visible Policing unit and the Boshof SAPS.
