Ekurhuleni Trio Task Team members in partnership with local security guards arrested two suspects in Benoni on Wednesday, 21 June 2023 for possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and a stolen vehicle.
According to a preliminary report the members were out on a routine crime prevention patrol when they obtained information from a local security company to be on the lookout for a vehicle with four occupants.
The suspects' vehicle was spotted travelling towards Benoni CBD. A high speed chase ensued and the vehicle was intercepted. Two of the suspects were arrested while two others managed to fled from the scene.
Police recovered an unlicensed firearm, an imitation firearm ('toy gun'), ammunition and a stolen vehicle.
