Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the industrial area of Pretoria West for reports of an explosion.
Reports from the scene are that an electrical transformer exploded while three men were conducting maintenance on it.
A fifty-year-old man was left with critical injuries and was airlifted with the assistance of the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required.
Two other men required advanced life support intervention to stabilize them before they were transported by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
