CERT volunteers together with emergency services were dispatched and upon arrival found an adult male had been shot in the leg.
Reports from the scene indicated that the driver had stopped just after the toll booth southbound when he was confronted by suspects who attempted to hijack and rob him.
Unfortunately, he was shot in the leg. He was treated and stabilized by paramedics before being transported to the hospital for further care under the care of Advanced Life Support paramedics.
One suspect was chased by SAPS and private security and was shot.
He was declared deceased by paramedics.
